BARRIO Budapest

Branding and identity design for a restaurant that opened its doors in 2021. Situated in Budapest's picturesque 2A district, a hilly residential area, the restaurant attracts primarily locals with its offering of grilled dishes and South American flavors. The name ‘Barrio’, meaning ‘neighborhood’ in Spanish, reflects these characteristics—a theme we sought to emphasize in the visual identity.

The client also requested that the visual identity should not be overly dominant but rather pleasant and aesthetic, reinforcing the sense that this is a friendly, family-oriented restaurant. They wanted a classic and elegant design—beautiful, yet not aggressively attention-grabbing.

The design incorporates curved and arched motifs, inspired by the surrounding hills, while the red hues and flame imagery symbolize the essence of grilled cuisine. Additionally, the abstract flames, forming a crown-like shape, subtly convey the restaurant’s ambition to become the ‘king’ of its neighborhood.

We also created a circular stamp version of the logo, allowing the restaurant to be represented on a variety of surfaces, including temporary ones or stickers.

For the unique business cards, the menu and other elements, the visual identity was reflected not only in the design but also in the form: the textual information was printed on curved, rounded paper or boards. In other instances, the curve appears as a graphic element.

For the directional signs, where visibility was especially crucial due to the dense vegetation, we emphasized the red color and used rounded boards once again.

In the garden area, the large open kitchen's surface presented a challenge, as the red color would have been too bold. Instead, we opted to cover the counter with corrugated metal and paint it in various vibrant colors, evoking the lively atmosphere of South American favelas.

For our own branded products, which will be sold commercially, we designed colorful packaging. However, for the packaging used within the restaurant's interior, we opted for a more subtle and elegant design.
