BAGATELLE GARDENHOUSE

Since the opening of their first unit, Villa Bagatelle, in 2010, we have been continuously collaborating with the Bagatelle Budapest group. Over the years, the company has expanded with several new units, including this boutique hotel housed in a century-old villa. As a result, a comprehensive rebranding and the restructuring of their brands into an umbrella brand with distinct sub-brands became necessary—a process we carried out.

The neoclassical villa is nestled within a vast, lush garden, where towering cypress trees add to its timeless elegance.

During the group's complete rebranding, we placed the square at the heart of the visual identity. This geometric element appears in different forms across the umbrella brand and its individual units: in the corporate logo, it is positioned at the center of the letter ‘B’; in Brót bakery, it transforms into the accent mark above the ‘ó,’ taking on a slightly tilted, irregular shape; in Villa Bagatelle, it reflects the building’s dominant staircase; and here, three elongated squares evoke the towering cypress trees in the garden.

We chose a soft, fresh pastel green for the identity, ensuring that the shade harmonizes with the colors of the group's other units. In collaboration with the interior designer, we incorporated this color into specific areas of the interiors.

The most distinctive and recognizable feature of the building is the irregular row of arches facing the garden, which we wanted to capture graphically and use in certain branding elements, such as bags, publication covers, etc.

Since the Gardenhouse boutique hotel is part of the Bagatelle Budapest group, it does not have a standalone website. Instead, it is featured alongside the group’s other units on the corporate website, where each entity is distinguished by a unique color—Brót bakery in brown, Villa Bagatelle in purple, and Gardenhouse in a soft green hue.

The group also includes two other establishments: in the visual identity of Villa Bagatelle, the squares are arranged into a staircase, referencing the fact that the building can only be accessed via the stairs, while at Brót, the square playfully appears in the accent of the name. Within the group's visual identity (below), the square marks the center, the 'heart' of the letter "B" which operates all units.
