MOVIEBAR

Moviebar, a film production company, wanted to avoid a classic visual identity and steer clear of industry clichés. So, we deliberately avoided gold tones and light beams, designing a bold, modern, a bit brutalist, rough and slightly provocative branding that steers far away from pathos and stands closer to the underground imagery and music scene they feel close to.

Their logo was created using a custom-designed typeface, featuring intentionally brutalist, angular shapes. The design was inspired by the large, rounded-corner crates and boxes commonly used for packaging film equipment.

The simplified version of the logo (right) works well on social media and functions as a distinctive pictogram.

The animated intro used at the beginning of their films reflects the same angularity as the logo, yet remains bright and radiant, aligning with the industry's visual norms.

Alongside black, we chose a vibrant yellow for the branding, further emphasizing its industrial character.

The block system we designed can be used in various ways in a two-dimensional format—whether as layout elements in publications, on posters, wristbands, or other surfaces. By adjusting the colors, the branding adapts well to different contexts and materials. Here, for example, we created an invitation using the brand’s blocks, tailored to the theme and target audience.

The client handled the website development in-house, while we provided guidance, such as the idea of masking photos using the shapes of the blocks.
